Week in week out this Portuguese phenomenon proves he is one of the best football players in the world today.

Cristiano Ronaldo started his professional career at Sporting Clube de Portugal in Lisboa, but he wouldn’t stay long at the 18 time national champions. After just one season he was wanted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. Coach Alex Ferguson of Manchester United was the one who in the end got to sign the then 18 year old super talent from Portugal.

The first three years at Manchester United he was still learning but occasionally you could see his exceptional talent. But after three years Ronaldo showed for the first time his true potential, in the 2006-2007 season he scored 20+ goals for the first time and won his first league title.  The two following season Manchester United also won the title and Ronaldo was a big part of their success. In 2008 Manchester United also won the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup for Club teams.  But in the summer of 2009 the marriage between Ronaldo and Manchester United ended when Ronaldo signed for his dream team, Real Madrid. He was transfered for a record breaking €94 million.

And although Ronaldo excels on a personal level in Madrid, scoring 107 goals in only 96 appearances, Real Madrid is still waiting on their first big success since the signing of Ronaldo. But this season(2011-2012) looks like it’s going to be their year. Currently they are on top in the Primera Division and their in the Semi Finals of the Champions League .
